It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to predict.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was in motion.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was out her side required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

During that phase they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
